A very busy week in both Westminster and up North and a lot done.
On Monday I started the day with a meeting with the team from Neighbourhood Watch who are promoting their new Community Charter which is aimed at empowering communities to tackle crime and ASB. Iwas happy to sign it myself.
Later on after a meeting with the German Embassy to discuss a range of topics, I met with the RNIB to talk about their work on helping blind and partially sited people deal with the high cost of living.
Later on I attended a reception for women in STEM. Women are very underrepresented in STEM jobs so I wanted to talk to some of the amazing people doing work to get more women and girls into the sciences.
On Tuesday Parliament was debating Labour's Opposition Day motions. I was surprised when they decided not to vote for higher water protection standards after calling for the debate themselves. To compound that, they then put out a series of adverts, lying about how MPs including myself had voted. I'm backing calls for a formal apology form Keir Starmer.
I also dropped into an even for the National Literacy Trust to hear about their work.
On Wednesday, Parliament debated the Illegal Migration Bill which I was proud to vote for. I also welcomed my team down to London for a series of meetings and later on I joined a round-table discussion on the future of military spending and the Integrated Review.
Back up in the Constituency, I followed up on some questions about crime and ASB and visited the ponderosa green wedge in Langley. I'm very concerned by the inconsistent stories from various Labour councillors about what has been agreed for the site.
On top of all of this, it was great to be back out on the doorstep talking to you ahead of the local elections, supporting our excellent candidates.
Don't forget to vote on Thursday and remember to bring photo ID!
