The main focus of this week has been the Chancellor's statement, setting out the measures we need to take as a country to address the current cost of living crisis, caused by the aftermath of COVID and the ongoing situation in Ukraine.
I welcome the package announced. Whilst we have had to take some tough choices, there will be more money for education, health and care and wages of the least well off will be uplifted. Those who can pay more, will and those who can't will be protected.
The week actually started on Sunday with Remembrance services in Heywood and Middleton before heading down to London.
At Westminster this week I met with representatives of health organisations to talk about their work in our area and to discuss what more can be done to improve outcomes in our communities.
I met with groups advocating for access to cash and high street banking and learned about new ways of ensuring communities have access to services.
Undoubtedly the biggest part of the week, however, was the release of the Corner's report on the death of Awaab Ishak.
I met with the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities to talk about my very real concerns about the record of Rochdale Boroughwide Housing and how little they had done to improve conditions in their properties.
I'll continue to work closely with fellow MPs and the Council to ensure that there is an appropriate and swift response to the damning reports about RBH.
If you are affected, please do get in touch so I can help.
