A slightly different catch-up this week as I'm sending it from abroad.
On Monday I had a meeting with the director of the Science and Industry Museum to follow up on our recent meeting about improving access to STEM careers locally.
Later in the week I joined colleagues for a meeting with the Chancellor to discuss a range of topics, including the cost of living and what can be done to ease the burden.
On Wednesday I met with the Royal Astronomical Society to follow up on my discussions with the Science and Industry Museum and local colleges - bringing new, high-paid jobs to our communities. This will require working with a large number of partners and I'm enjoying the discussions.
Later on I had a meeting about the future of electric vehicles with the DfT. Although the phase out date for petrol and diesel cars is a long way off, I want to understand the technology, the challenges and how we make electric cars affordable and accessible.
Also this week I met with Dementia Awareness to talk about how we improve diagnosis and care. My team are trained as dementia friends and I want to do more to support families living with this cruel illness.
On Friday I flew out to Bahrain with the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme for middle East briefings and training and at time of writing have just left HMS Middleton whose crew were kind enough to welcome me on board as "their MP".
I'm looking forward to a busy week next week, my office is still open even though I'm out of the country, so don't be shy, it's what I'm here for!
