A very busy one this time.
The week started with meetings on the future of electric vehicles (very relevant given the Mayor's proposals for a Clean Air Zone) and Dr Liam Fox's Downs Syndrome Bill which I have previously supported.
The CAZ in particular has been a big feature in mu inbox lately so I'm doing a bit of work to make sure I'm up to speed on all the key issues.
Later on I was invited to participate in the launch of the Global Britain Foundation which will look at ways to make the most of our new opportunities post Brexit.
This week also saw the launch of the Levelling Up White Paper. I, along with colleagues fed in to the original consultation and I was very pleased to see a strong focus on Education, with our area earmarked for additional direct investment.
On Thursday I headed back North to welcome a special guest to Middleton.
The Prime Minister agreed to come to Hopwood Hall College to see what a huge success it is and how it's helping remarkable people from all over Heywood and Middleton to realise their full potential. I'm so grateful to the College for all the work they did to make the visit a huge success.
Sticking with the education theme I also joined students at Edgar Wood Academy for a Q&A - I was bowled over by the insightfulness of the questions. It's reassuring to see the next generation are taking such a keen interest in the world around them.
Later on I joined Policing students to talk about their course. 20% of all new Officers recruited in Greater Manchester are trained in Heywood and Middleton which is something to be proud of.
As always, I was back out talking to people on Saturday and I'm still drying off now!
My team are here to help if there's anything you need, so please do get in touch.
