A pacey week in Westminster this week.
The main business has been the Health and Social Care act which received its 3rd reading before heading off to the Lords.
There's a huge amount of misinformation doing the rounds on this, much of it politically motivated.
The truth is that no party has stepped up to the plate on this issue for decades and it has allowed the system to fall into a state that isn't fit for purpose. We're a long way from fixing things entirely, but I stand by the decision to start that conversation.
As the Chair of the APPG on Local Government, I've started my own independent inquiry into the future of social care - I'm pleased that the Care Minister had agreed to meet my cross-party group so we can put forward our suggestions.
Also this week I had the chance to meet the President of Israel. As a supporter of a fair two-state solution it was really good to have an honest chat about this complex issue.
Another complex issue, the illegal Channel crossings has been filling my inbox and so this week I joined a group of colleagues for a discussion with the Home Office about how we tackle this issue. There aren't any easy answers but there is a lot more we can do.
I also met with my colleague Dr Liam Fox to support his Downs Syndrome Bill. The current generation of adults with Downs are likely to be the first to outlive their support network. The new Bill makes sure that they can continue to live a fulfilling and independent life with proper support.
The absolute highlight of the week for me was the official Welcome Home parade and reception for the personnel who served in Op Pittng - we owe them a huge debt of gratitude for their work in saving so many lives.
On Thursday I joined the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme in Scotland for a visit to the UK's nuclear deterrent. For obvious reasons I can't say a lot about that, but it's hugely reassuring to know we're so well protected.
As we head into the Festive Season, I've been getting out to visit Christmas fairs across the Constituency. If you're having one and you'd like me to get involved, do let me know.
There's also been some troubling news about a new covid-19 variant 'Omicron' - common sense and sticking to the rules is our best option for keeping this at bay, so as always, be careful and look after each other.
