Heywood and Middleton MP, Chris Clarkson has thanked NHS Staff, GPs and volunteers for their tremendous efforts after the total number of Rochdale Borough residents to receive a first-dose of the vaccine exceeded 40,000 this week.
Constituents over the age of 70, the clinically extremely vulnerable, care home residents and workers, along with frontline health and social care staff have all now been invited to receive their first dose of the vaccine.
Teams are now working to offer vaccinations to the next level of groups including those aged 65-69, people aged 16-64 in 'at risk' groups and carers for older and disabled people.
Speaking about the success of the programme Mr. Clarkson said: "The efficiency of the vaccination roll-out across Rochdale Borough is testimony to the incredible people who have been leading the delivery operation. In recent weeks I have visited both vaccination and testing centres in the Borough and what I have seen has been remarkable. I cannot thank enough, the professional staff and volunteers who have played their part in delivering this outstanding achievement. Their commitment is helping to keep more people safe every day. I am immensely proud of how our community has come together to battle against this terrible virus."
