Over 400 businesses in Heywood and Middleton will benefit as the Government announces easing of lockdown restrictions from July 4.
As part of the plans pubs and restaurants will be able to reopen, providing they adhere to Covid Secure guidelines, and some leisure facilities and tourist attractions may also reopen if they can do so safely.
MP for Heywood and Middleton, Chris Clarkson is urging people to show their support to local and especially independent businesses re-opening in Heywood, Middleton, Bamford, Castleton and Norden, to help them bounceback.
Commenting, Chris said: “I am delighted that many of our local leisure and hospitality business will be able to re-open on July 4th and I hope that residents will be supporting these businesses which are so vital to our local economy and jobs. I have spoken to many independent business owners in the constituency and they are all keen to re-open as soon as possible and welcome customers back.
“The 4th July is American Independence Day but this year we need to take the opportunity to celebrate and support our amazing independent business right here in Heywood and Middleton.
“Of course, safety is of paramount importance and it is vital that social distancing rules and safety guidance are adhered to. Business owners have worked really hard to get their premises ready and I am certain that people here will be sensible and considerate of these new measures so that everyone can feel safe.”
The Government will also be publishing detailed guidance to help tourist attractions and accommodation venues to re-open safely, such as social distancing and cleaning protocols. A new industry standard will also be introduced by Visit England, so that the public can easily see if the venue is carrying out the new rules.
While the infection rate continues to fall, the Prime Minister has been clear that the public must continue to follow social distancing guidelines to keep coronavirus under control. The Government will keep all measures under constant review.
