New MP, Chris Clarkson hit the ground running in Heywood this week when he met with Northern PowerHouse Minister, the Rt. Hon. Jake Berry MP to discuss how he can help to improve the prosperity of our highstreets and support local businesses and the community.
Chris and Jake took a walk along the high street to speak to independent shop owners and hear about their experiences and opinions and heard about their thoughts on what could help to bring new life to Heywood.
The pair then met with members of the Heywood Business Group, Alison Bamford and Mike Goldrick to hear their views, discuss a range of ideas and get their feedback.
Chris said: “I have heard from so many people who are dissatisfied with Heywood’s town centre. Our community deserves a good quality and diverse highstreet and we have some amazing independent business owners who want to be part of a thriving business community. I am committed to doing everything I can to provide the opportunities they need to succeed.”
