MP for Heywood and Middleton, Chris Clarkson has written an open letter to the people of Heywood in response the the publication of a report published by the Centre for Towns Think Tank which speculates about the future of towns across the UK after lockdown.
Local press reported this week that the report named Heywood in a section about socio-economic decline, but their findings were base on data from 1981 to 2011. Chris commented that whilst he understand that the purpose of such statistical reports, it was also true that snapshot statements from them, especially when reported with little or no context, made for concerning headlines.
In his letter to the people of Heywood Chris explained the measured that he had taken in is time since being elected in December to support the Town and offered strong reassurance to residents and businesses in the town that he was here to represent them, before, during and after the lockdown and to support the future development and prosperity of Heywood.
