I am really pleased to see that in a move back to more focussed local community policing every ward in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale has been assigned their own Police Officers which residents will be able to contact.
With news recently that over 80,000 crimes have not been recorded properly in Greater Manchester and Andy Burnham refusing to take responsibility for the way that the service has failed victims of crime under his supervision, it will be a reassurance that they can can contact someone locally when they need to.
I have regular meetings with our Area Inspector where I feed back communications that I have had with constituents and hear about the efforts that are being made on a local level to address crime and anti-social behaviour. One of the big things that I hear from people is that they feel that there are not enough officers on the streets, so I hope that this will help to reassure people that there are specific PCSOs and PCs working in their part of the constituency.
