A hot and sticky week down in Westminster and up in Heywood and Middleton, but still keeping busy.
I started the week with my regular catch up with local green belt groups - we're following the progress of the Places for Everyone strategy closely and expect a decision soon.
This week I also had the very great pleasure of welcoming women in Defence and the Armed Froces to Parliament as part of the All Party Parliamentary Group - later in the day some of us had the privilege of a private briefing with the Chief of Defence Staff in which we talked about our work.
I also hosted a gathering of MPs and Peers to discuss international trade in my role as a Parliamentary Private Secretary - looking at how we can drive foreign investment in our towns and cities.
On Friday this week I met with Seimans Energy (which despite its name is a British owned and operated) where we talked about decarbonisation and their work in Hydrogen - I have chosen the Energy Industry as my fellowship on the Industry and Parliament Trust scheme as this is hugely important sector for the UK and especially relevant to the current cost of living situation.
This weekend I had the very great pleasure of visiting the new Langley Family Hub which is situated at the existing Children's Centre - this is an amazing facility and the result of over £300m investment by the Government.
Later in the day I joined the community in Heywood in enjoying 1940s day - the town always puts on a spectacular show and I was pleased to pass on my thanks to some of the organisers.
Lastly, on Sunday I had the privilege of joining the Mayor of Rochdale, Norden Councillor Mike Holly for his Civic Sunday service, conducted at St Chads by Rev. Anne Gibert. It was a wonderfully witty and uplifting affair and a fitting tribute to a lovely man who will do our Borough proud.
Enjoy the sunshine, have a great week and don't forget the factor 50 when you're out and about.
