Happy New Year!
As we head into 2023 there's lots going on in Westminster with a number of important Bills coming forward.
This week we've been getting back to business with the Stamp Duty Bill and the introduction of the Industrial Action Bill which will have its second reading this coming week.
For my part, I've been pitching in to support Trade Secretary Kemi Badenoch whilst her own PPS is on maternity leave and that's given me a fascinating insight into the workings of one of the most important departments in Government.
That doesn't mean I haven't been busy with the day job too.
This week I've had meetings about cancer treatment, saving money on energy bills and access for blind people on public transport, all based on what you wrote to me about.
I also had the chance to sit down with the Prime Minister twice this week, once at No.10 where we talked about getting our economy back on track after the twin shocks of COVID and Ukraine and again after PMQs where we talked about education, strikes and the NHS.
I'm impressed with the PM's work ethic and attention to detail on even the most complex of subjects and I think he's absolutely right about what we need to do as a country.
Also this week I met with local green belt groups to discuss the ongoing inquiry into the Mayor's "Places for Everyone" developers charter - we have a real fight on our hands to stop Labour concreting our green belt, but I'm seriously impressed by the work of local activists.
I also resumed my duties with the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme, visiting the Combined Arms Manoeuvre School in Warminster.
Next week we'll be looking at Internet Safety, retained EU Legislation and Minimum Safety Levels during strikes.
Please keep in touch and let me know what matters to you - it helps me represent you properly.
